The Elliman family moved to Buckingham Place,  Slough in 1845 and by 1847 were selling their home-made embrocation to a Victorian public who couldn’t get enough. Eventually James Elliman opened a factory in Chandos Street to keep up with the demand for his marvellous medicine.

By 1850 Ellimans was widely advertised as a rub for sprained and tired muscles - for humans and animals! James Elliman Junior took over the business in 1870 when his father died. In 1882 he opened a new factory situated in Chandos Street (now replaced by Chandos Mall in Queensmere shopping Centre) and the business grew and grew.

By 1911 the embrocation was being exported to 42 countries!

Uses: Rub in Ellimans Embrocation to spread soothing warmth, for quick relief of muscular pain and stiffness including rheumatic pain, backache, sciatica, lumbago, fibrositis and for athlete's massage of arm and leg muscles.

Contains Turpentine Oil and Glacial Acetic Acid.

The pictures below show an Ellimans Royal Embrocation box, and Ellimans Embrocation from C. 1986
