Vim was one of the first scouring powders, invented in 1904. The name Vim was probably chosen as a reference to the colloquial noun vim, meaning force, energy, vigor.

Today's Vim comes in a plastic container, but still has the "shaker" at the top.

Dampen the surface to be cleaned, sprinkle on Vim. Wipe with a damp cloth and rinse. For really stubborn stains, leave Vim to penetrate longer before wiping clean.
