After a long absence from our medicine chests, Zam–Buk is back! The miracle ointment has been used for centuries as a useful remedy to help soothe cuts, sores, bruises, sprains, chilblains, insect bites, and many more ailments.
First appearing on chemists’ shelves in Great Britain in 1903 in a time before antibiotics, Zam–Buk was an important first–aid medicine for any cuts or abrasions of the skin, preventing infection which without treatment, could lead to certain death. By the middle of the 20th century, with the invention of penicillin and other antibiotics, Zam–Buk had disappeared from our medicine cupboards.
The healing, soothing, antiseptic ointment is packaged in an old fashioned silver ointment tin and offers a highly effective, safe and natural remedy to treat minor injuries and pains. Unequalled as an embrocation, Zam–Buk is first aid in a tin and no medicine cabinet should be without it.
Key ingredients: Petrolatum, Eucalyptus Oil, Camphor Oil, Beeswax, and Thyme Oil.
Dick Charlton comments "This took me back to my three year service with the ROYAL SIGNALS in India where I was stationed during 1945. It was one evening when I was resting on my Charpoy (bed) and going though agonies, as I was suffering from Prickly Heat and Crutch Rot after having applied some Whitfields Ointment suppled by our medical unit. The result was like pouring acid into an open wound. From an open window a voice called "Got some crutch rot mate ?" It was a Chindit soldier who had served in the jungle fighting the Japanese Army. "You want try some Zambuk" he said. Needless to say that did the trick and my Prickly Heat rash and the Crutch Rot was cured . I had no more problems with Zambuk"
